About Me

I knew, you would take a look at the ‘About-Page’.

I appreciate your interest very much.

So i consider you want to know a little more about the guy behind the John K. B. MUSiC Project. Well, here you are:

My name is Jens Krause from Berlin, Germany. I was born here and never left – yes; home is where the heart is, right?

I am now 38 years old, i love BBQ, walking on the beach an watch the sun go down…. Pls feel free to leave a comment, if you want to merry me now 😛

I came across music when i was a child. When i was a little boy i had a little organ at home, which i really liked a lot. In the age of 13 i got my first keyboard – a Yamaha psr-48 which i owned until 2022.

I had some Keyboard-Lessons when i was 13 or 14 but never practised a lot (today i must say: unfortunately!) so i never reached a Pro-like Level. Luckily i learned enough to play at least chordprogressions and melodies.

My very first track i had recordet on two tapes. On the first tape i recorded my second Keyboard which i got when i was 15/16 Years old an did the first layer. Then i Playbacked that tape and routet it in a way i could record a second layer and so on. When i was 16 Years old i got my hands on an arrangement – and sample-based daw from eJay which i used to produce my first full album. No i never plublished it 😀 Then when i was in the end 20s i finally could buy the Magix Music Maker Production Suite MX, which was quiet nice for me for a while. I finally could mess around with a few VSTs, learned a lot about arrangement and workflow but unfortunately i was never really seduced by the end products sounding because the engine of that daw combined with mostly free VSTs was not the best combination so i never released one track.

For the next 10 years life just happened and i lost a bit of my excitement about making music because i never had the money to buy expensive solid gear and Software. Luckily that changed a bit in 2017 so i finally got a job. So Yes, sometimes there is light at the end of a dark road – but i dont regret anything – hard times form us to our really selfes and can help us develop new ways to live life.

Long story short: I found back my music mojo and enjoy every second of producing it – finally with solid software and plugins/Instruments! My inspiration is the cosmos. I am always amazed by the beauty and the terrifying dangers of raw powers it consists of. For i believe in god it is an absolute favour just to sit there and stare at such a beautiful and magneficant creation which leaves me speechless sometimes.

I just can’t wait to see your reactions on my releases and i very much hope, that the passion i laid into every single track can cause you to feel better and inspired!

Thank’s a lot for your interest in my little story of life here 🙂

God Bless you and have a great day!

-Jens

About some of my gear

The Behringer DeepMind 6 is a little underestimatet. But even if it is an “only” 6-voice Synthesizer it has a wide versatile range of Sounds.  Presetwise it comes with nearly 1.000 Presets from Arps, Drones, Bass, Lead and Key-Sounds. Also the FX section has a ton of features and options tu tune the sound. Well, it’s a little peace of gear, but i like it very much.

Maschine MK3

The MK3 for me is an awesome way to jam, to sketch up some ideas and of course for setting up drumbeats! The Complete 13 Select what comes with it, brings a lot of cool Instruments with it. Also it acts as an audio interface what makes it much more usefull. If you take your time to dive into the functions, you will  develop a great workflow. Well – I do!

Hardwarewise i am driving an AMD-Ryzen based System.
Mainboard: ASRoCK X470 TaiChi Ultimate with a very good onboardsound
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x
RAM: 32 GB DDR4 (2x16GB@2999 – Yes, i know….) TridentZ Neo
2x NVME SSDs 1TB each
All in all – a relatively simple setup, but never let me down 🙂

Very simple dual-monitor-setup

The Jupiter-8 Plugin from the Arturia V-Collection8

The Arturia V-Collection 8 is most likely THE addition for the Maschine MK3 and for any DAW that can handle VSTs. You can choose each Instrument by its own or you can search for different kind of sounds of all the Instruments together in the AnalogLab. All the presets can be saved and set as favorites what makes it easyer to find your favourite sounds again. The Sound is awesome and it comes with a huge library of over 10.000 Presets. If you can’t afford it by one-time-payment, you can select it via rent-to-own Plan within splice.com – like i did 😉

Sometimes you need a little luck. And i’m glad for having some of it. I ordered the upgrade from Complete13 select to Complete 13, wich includes the full Version of KONTAKT. And for KONTAKT there are tons of great Synthesizers out there. It’s not a lie when i say that this put my soundpool on another level. Never want to miss it again!

Presonus Studio One 5

“It feels like home” was the first thought when i first got my hands on this beautyful DAW. I subscribed to the presonus sphere where Studio One 5 is included. It has tons of features and ist a great DAW with a super workflow.

Output ARCADE is a subscribtion model but it’s totally worth it. Its a Sampleplayer  on the white keys with realtime effects on the black keys. The Samplelibrary contains about 50.000 sounds for a wide range of genres.
